I’ve been meaning to write up my review of our Mamas and Papas Baby Bud for ages, but as seems to often be the case with ‘posts I’ve been meaning to write’, life got in the way. But I love this product so much I think it’s only fair that I give it a little love on here and tell you why you need to go out and buy one – right now!
We bought the Mamas and Papas Baby Bud when Taylor was almost six months on a recommendation from my sister who loved hers. We had been weaning Taylor from four months (she never really liked milk) and had been using a Bumbo to feed her in whilst she was still tiny. In all honesty though, once Taylor was able to sit up on her own, the Baby Bud would’ve been fine to use before six months as it’s really snug and curved up the back so there’s absolutely no sliding down (as we find is the case with the majority of high chairs when we’re out.) So I’m not sure we ever really needed the Bumbo, but being first-time parents we were obviously keen to stick to the ‘rules’ and all that.
The great thing about the Baby Bud is that it’s suitable from six months and lasts up until age three, thanks to adjustable legs and clip-in tray which each have three different settings to adjust as baby grows. It also has a cushioned molded insert, which makes it super comfortable for young babies and can be removed to give more space as they get older.
As you would expect from a booster seat, the Mamas and Papas Baby Bud fits to any chair and I love how simple it is to attach with one strap that clicks underneath and another that straps around the back. It’s also very lightweight and compact so it’s no problem taking it out of the house – we used to do this a lot when we ate out with Taylor and she was still that bit too small for the regular restaurant high chair. It was so much more comfortable for her to sit in and have her own tray to make a mess of.
There’s also an activity tray which can be bought in addition to the Baby Bud. It costs around £15 and attaches to the top of the existing tray. We never got this, but I think it would’ve been great for keeping Taylor entertained all those times we’ve been waiting for food to arrive/cool down (or when we realise she’s finished all of her food and we’re still waiting for ours to arrive!)
Anther thing I love about it is how easy it is to clean. The plastic tray clips off and the cushioned insert is easy to wipe clean and can also be taken out if it needs more than just a quick wipe.
If you’re looking for a practical booster seat that looks good, is lightweight and will last past the first year, I really can’t recommend the Mamas and Papas Baby Bud enough! It’s available to buy in four contemporary colours – teal, raspberry, putty or lime for around £45 from the usual outlets…What are you waiting for?
Taylor loves it too…
