salt extraction in Cape Verde on our family holiday

My Sunday Photo this week is another one from our family holiday in Cape Verde (sorry, I know I’m milking it! I haven’t been very snap happy since we got back!) This is of one of the volcanic craters where they extract salt, which we saw as part of our Sal island tour.

Driving around Sal, you do feel as though you’re on the moon or you’ve gone back to the prehistoric ages as there really is very little in the way of infrastructure. There’s only one main road, so you need a 4×4 to get to places like this (these photos were taken whilst hanging out of the window!) It’s also very flat, so at times you see absolutely nothing as far as the eye can see.

Taylor didn’t find it quiteย as interesting as me!…

Beautiful and unusual. Not a sight many of us will ever see.

Such an expanse of land, you really can see so far.
