Yesterday I woke up to the amazing news that I’m a finalist in the Brilliance in Blogging Awards – Family category! ARRGGGHHHH!!!!! No amount of exclamation marks and caps can really convey how excited and utterly thrilled I am that my little blog has been recognised out of thousands of nominations.
Thank you soooo much to everyone who nominated me for the shortlist and voted for me to become a finalist – I really am over the moon and it’s such a great feeling knowing that people actually enjoy reading my posts and following the journey of our little family. The blogosphere is full of inspiration and talent and I’m still learning so much every day…to know that I’m doing something right really is such a fantastic feeling.
I was pretty excited for BritMums Live 2016 (#BML16) anyhow, but attending as a finalist really is the cherry on top of the cake! #BML16 is the most talked about blogging event on the calandar held in London on 25th June. The conference aims to bring together the biggest collective of lifestyle bloggers and social influencers to meet, socialise, network, meet brands and fire creativity. After the conference there will be the awards ceremony where the winners for each category will be announced. I really cannot wait!!
BritMums have set up a linky for bloggers attending to join in with, so that we can all learn a bit more about each other before the event. So here’s a little bit more about me…
Natalie, most people (who like me) tend to call me Nat. When I married I inherited the surname of Mudd, but we don’t need to talk about that.

How I look
That all depends what time of day you catch me and how much sleep I had the night before. On some mornings I look like this…
But hopefully I’ll be having a better day and be looking more like this…
Is this my first blogging event?
Yes! My very first and I’m nervous and excited about it all at the same time. I booked the ticket back in December on a whim one night when I was feeling brave and started to see all of the other “I’m going to #BML16” badges popping up on other blogs. To be honest I felt like a bit of a fraud thinking about mingling with the great and the good of the blogging world…I never for one minute thought I’d be a finalist!
I will be wearing…
Absolutely no idea! I’m not really someone who plans my outfits in advance, so it’s way too early for me to have thought this far ahead…however hopefully it will make a welcome change from the everyday jeans and joggers. I don’t get out much these days so I’ll definitely be going shopping and hopefully I’ll find a nice shift dress of some sort…probably a blazer, and sandals (I’m hoping it will be warm!)
What I hope to gain from #BML16
The agenda looks amazing and I’m really looking forward to attending the sessions and learning how to further develop this blog which now occupies so much of my time. But mostly I’m looking forward to finally meeting some of my blogging pals and putting a a face to the blog names. And we can talk about blogging!! My ‘real-life’ family and friends really do try to be interested but, let’s be honest, they don’t really understand (or really care) what I’m talking about – so it will be great spending a whole day with other bloggers who share the same passion.
My tips for a great conference
As it’s my first blogging event, I really don’t know what to expect. However, I’m planning to let my hair down a little, get to know everyone and just enjoy the day. I’m planning to stay over the night before so hopefully that will omit the (highly likely) chance of me arriving typically late after everyone else has already buddied up…me frantically looking around for a familiar face – that’s right I’ve never met any of you. So yes, hopefully I’ll be organised on the day and arrive on time. I really do need to get my hotel booked.
Can’t wait to see y’all there! X
