Earlier this year I created a new home office in a corner of our spare room. It was the perfect nook next to a bright window and was crying out for a desk. So I repurposed an old dressing table, transforming it into a new desk, and added shelving, storage and some bright accessories to create a lovely bright and colourful space where I can blog and work on my freelance projects.
I absolutely love having my own space to work from and find that it helps me to be so much more productive than I used to be working from the sofa or the kitchen table with all of the distractions around.
I’ve been using one of our old Ghost style dining chairs as a temporary office chair for the past six months, but to be honest it isn’t the comfiest and I’ve been meaning to update it for a while. So I was delighted when my new Charles Charles replica office chair arrived from Lakeland Furniture this week. I wanted an office chair that would be both stylish and comfortable, but not too large or bulky and I love the simple and elegant design of this one. It comes in a range of colours but I opted for it in Casino White to compliment the existing colour scheme of my home office.
I was surprised at how easy it was to put the office chair together. It only took me ten minutes after unpacking the parts and was easy to assemble with the allen key provided. Upon ordering I was worried that the chair might be a little large in proportion to my small desk, but it’s actually the perfect size and is also super lightweight, so easy to move around the house.
But the best thing about it is how comfortable it is. The padded ribbed seat is covered in faux leather with an ergonomic design to provide lower back support. This is perfect for me as I always seem to hunch forward when sat at a desk, mainly because office seats are usually too deep for my short legs! But I find that this chair really prevents me from doing this and instead encourages me to sit back into it, so no more achy backs or tense shoulders.
The chair also tilts backwards with a lever on the side so that you can adjust the tilt – and it really does tilt far for those moments when you just want five minutes to lean back and relax (whenever they might be!) The height of the seat can also be easily adjusted, so all members of the family can use it – even Taylor likes to sit in it and be wheeled around the house! No wonder she’s such a diva…
And the castors also mean that I now get to swivel around the room like a boss (or just whenever I get bored of looking at my computer screen!) I should probably invest in a new floor protector mat as I can see me making a habit of this. Or perhaps a nice pretty rug…
