Fun in the autumn garden – with Tiny Trolls of Norway

Tiny Trolls of Norway review

To me, the best thing about having a toddler is watching them discover new things every day and take delight from the little things. Those things that we come to take for granted as we grow older and get caught up in the errands and routines of everyday life. If you want a lesson in being mindful, watch a toddler for the day.

Adventures and outdoor play

We’ve always been an outdoorsy family and Taylor, like most children, seems to have a sense of adventure at her very core. She loves nothing more than playing in the garden, going to the park, or just going for a walk to our local woods or the fields nearby. If we’ve been indoors for too long, it’s not uncommon for her to put on her own shoes and coat before bringing me mine. “It’s time to go out now”, she’s saying (or would if she could actually talk!) Our time spent outside now is spent with excited pointing (Plane! Bird! Doggy!) accompanied by delightful squeals and the ongoing inspection of something new on the floor or in the trees above.

I haven’t bought many winter clothes for her this year yet, as it still seems pretty mild (can you believe it’s actually November?) So I was delighted when Tiny Trolls of Norway got in touch to offer us one of their adorable Smørbukk Teddy Fleece body suits to review. I’m intending to spend lots of time outside in our garden this winter after the fun we had out there in summer – and this will be perfect for keeping Taylor warm and snug.Tiny Trolls of Norway reviewTiny Trolls of Norway review

Tiny Trolls of Norway

If you haven’t yet heard of Tiny Trolls of Norway, they create quality outdoor wear for kids aged 1-8, and believe ‘There’s no such things as bad weather, just poor clothing!’ Its founder, Elaine, is passionate about kids learning through play and is keen to encourage parents to get kids playing outside, whatever the weather.

The collection is on sale in the UK and Norway and combines functionality with comfort and style – I love the fun, modern colours. From rain suits, fleeces, coveralls and winter suits, the range is perfect to keep your little ones dry and warm whilst enjoying play outside this season.

The Smørbukk Teddy Fleece costs £44.99 and is designed with toddlers in mind (available in sizes 1.5 years – 3 years). It can be used indoors as a snug alternative to the dressing gown (think onesie!), as well as outdoors. It can also be used as an extra layer underneath outer clothing when the weather gets particularly cold.Tiny Trolls of Norway childrens clothingTiny Trolls of Norway fleece review

Our verdict

One of the first things that struck me about the Smørbukk fleece when it first arrived is how incredibly soft it is (I just want to cuddle Taylor when she has it on!) Obviously it’s not something you would wear in the rain (unless worn underneath an outer rain suit), but I really like how it has a high collar and small tapered cuffs which will help keep the wind and the cold out.

It also has lovely detailing around the cuffs and the neck and one of my favourite things about it is how easy it is to get on and off. It has a diagonal zip that goes up the left leg – so no more poppers coming undone, or having to unfasten the whole thing for nappy changes. Hooray!

Taylor loves getting new clothes and playing dress up, so she was all too happy for me to put it on straight away and spend some time outside in our garden.

I have to admit it’s one of the cutest clothing items I’ve seen Taylor in – she just looks so snug and cosy (can we have one in an adult size please?!) It also seemed like she was really comfortable and not at all restricted, as toddlers can be in some of the more bulky body suits.  In between throwing the ball for Max, collecting leaves and playing hide and seek, we had a ball!

I can see us getting so much wear out of our new Smørbukk Teddy Fleece in the months to come – particularly as it starts to get colder.

Have you heard of Tiny Trolls of Norway before? Do you spend a lot of time outdoors with your little ones?

I love the “There’s no such things as bad weather, just poor clothing!” thing – it seems to be a Scandinavian thing (I have a Swedish friend who says this is a saying in Sweden), and it’s the motto of the nursery where one of my children went. He’d come home covered in mud every day as they’re outdoors in all weather conditions, and to be fair, the children love it. Thank you for the recommendation on the fleece! Loos fab! #KCACOLS

Ha it must be Scandinavian – I’ve heard it before too. And I totally agree with it! I know, it makes me laugh when I go to pick up mine from nursery and they’re playing outside in the freezing cold and wet – they really don’t care at all do they! Adults should learn from that. x

I haven’t heard of tiny trolls of Norway before so this is new to me. That fleece sounds super snuggly and good that it would double up as a onesie for indoors too. for nearly forty five quid though, it’s a bit out of my price range!! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday!

I agree it’s a little pricey, but I’m hoping it will last us for some time as she has plenty of room in there! x

Ah she looks so gorgeous and snuggly warm in this, I want an adult sized one. My son is very tactile and has a thing for freaking out at scratchy wool so this would be perfect for actually keeping him warm outside! I had never heard of the brand that love the concept! KCACOLS xx
