January: House hunting, a second pregnancy & going potty

house hunting

Now that Taylor’s two years old, I’ll no longer be publishing bi-monthly updates of her progress. But I still really love the idea of documenting our lives and remembering everything we have to celebrate each month – it’s so easy to get caught up in the every day and forget all of the little achievements, discoveries and adventures along the way. So throughout 2017 I’ll be publishing a monthly update looking back and also planning for the month ahead.

January is always a bit of a drag – I start the month geared up and ready for new beginnings, but then by the end of the month I literally cannot wait for spring to arrive and have a bit of cheer in the air. The wet, miserable weather hasn’t helped! However, it’s not all been so bad and we’ve had plenty of reasons to smile this month.

House hunting

After what was a bit of an impulse decision at the end of 2016, we’ve now sold our house and are on the search for our new one, which will most definitely be our ‘forever home’. Our family and friends are all in dismay since we’ve pretty much only just finished rennovating this one, but the hubby’s business has taken on new commitments, and as a family we feel ready for a change. If it all goes to plan we will also be moving cities so it will be a drastic move for us…perhaps I’ll need a new blog name too? 😉

Holidaying in Dubai

It seems like such a long time ago already, but our holiday to Dubai is certainly one we won’t forget in a while. Taylor had such fun and it was ace catching up with my sister’s family out there again. If you’re after some winter sun with the family, Dubai should definitely be on your list of contenders!

Potty training

Following an ongoing obsession of Taylor’s about ‘wee wees’, and an impulse to take off her nappy at any given moment, we finally took the plunge and introduced the potty last week. After three days I was convinced she just wasn’t ready – eagerness to sit on the potty was not due to actually needing to go…however later that morning she finally cracked it! She now gets so chuffed every time she has something to show me in the potty. Although cleaning poo out of a potty is sooo much worse than the nappies (I’ve since discovered potty liners thank god!), I feel super proud of her.

Saying goodbye to the first trimester!

I’m now into the second trimester with my second pregnancy and I’m so glad to be through the first. My energy levels have picked up again and I finally feel like I can sit on the sofa without falling asleep (well, at least sometimes)…antenatal appointments are well underway and I’m now at 16 weeks. Watch this space!

New brand collaborations

I’ve worked on quite a few sponsored posts this month and my income from the blog is on the up. I’ve also got some new collaborations coming up in February that I’m really excited to be working on.

My Wunderbrow discovery

I wrote about this ace product in my round-up of must-have makeup items. It really is brilliant and if you have gappy uneven eyebrows like me then it’s a must! It has literally changed my life. Or at least my face.

Being the favourite (for the first time ever!)

Since Taylor’s second birthday and our holiday abroad, she’s finally seen the light and actually seems to really like me. No, in fact she bloody loves me! Hooray! She even comes over for cuddles and kisses, asks me to go play with her and finally (wait for it…) finds me funny!! This will be pretty much the first time since her birth that she hasn’t pied me every day for her dad. I knew she’d realise I’m the cool one eventually.

What have you been up to? Do you feel raring to go in January or are you happy to see the back of it?

And well done on getting on with the potty training we’ve just cracked it with our daughter too because for months shed whip off her nappy. She pretty much potty trained herself! Great news on the projects you’ve had and have coming up too x
