Anybody else a tad excited about the beginning of Spring and the promise of warmer days ahead? I’ve already made some updates to our home decor and now I’m looking forward to ditching the winter clothes too (I seem to have been wearing them FOREVER). Here’s some simple ways you can change up your wardrobe and get ready for Spring fashion 2017…
1. Time for a jacket
If nothing says winter like investing in a warm coat, nothing says Spring like a new jacket. It’s all about Khaki this year and trench coats are back in a big way. Topshop has some great styles that will bring you right up to trend…
2. Ditch the boots
If you’re anything like me you’ve been pretty attached to your beloved winter boots. But now’s the time to push them to the back of your wardrobe once again and let your feet see the light of day. I’ll still be cracking out my trustee brogues, but if you like to be really on-trend, opt for flatforms (yes, the flat version of the platform) or kitten heels. The sporty look is also back, so your old Converse or pumps can walk proud for yet another season.
3. Embrace florals
I’m pretty bored of the jumper/jeans combo to be honest and I’m looking forward to embracing my feminine side with prettier, lighter fabrics. The catwalks are showcasing head to toe florals, but if like me you prefer to avoid looking like your nan’s table cloth, opt for floral tapered trousers or a pretty patterned shirt like these super fashionable ‘cold shoulder’ styles from Asos.
4. Add colour
Admittedly, my wardrobe has its fair share of black and neutral clothes. But I do love adding a pop of colour at this time to year. Brights adorned the S/S catwalks with pink and yellow featuring heavily. If you prefer to keep your clothes more demure, opt for a bright nail colour or accessories to bring that feel good factor into your day.
5. Get shirty
Shirts are everywhere in the shops right now (aren’t they every year at this time?) It’s no surprise really since they offer the perfect Spring wardrobe staple that can be layered up for colder days or stripped back when it starts to get warmer. From button down shirt dresses, to one shoulder designs and oversized shapes it seems that any shirt goes this season – but one thing’s for sure, banker stripes are IN.
Will you be updating your wardrobe this season? What’s your favourite Spring fashion staple?
