Gender reveal! Our second baby…

gender reveal

I previously questioned whether we should wait until the birth of our future arrival to find out the gender. We found outย with Taylor early on at a private scan around 11 weeks, and I wondered whether we should experience the anticipation of not knowing this time around. After all, we have no plans to have anymore…

But who was I kidding?

I hate secrets and I’m probably the most impatient person I know. Apart from my husband that is. So when we were asked whether we wanted to find out the gender, we didn’t hesitate in saying that we definitely did! It’s still a surprise, just 20 weeks earlier, right?

So without further ado…

It’s a boy!

I have to admit, I was a little taken aback when the sonographer asked ‘Well, what do you think it is?’ as she (apparently) pointed to baby’s penis and the hubby exclaimed “Is it a boy!?” (I was looking at a different screen to them and had no idea what they were looking at)…

I honestly felt like it was going to be another girl! Mainly because the pregnancy up until 20 weeks had been pretty similar and I didn’t feel as though I was ‘carrying’ any differently. But I also think it’s because I just expected what’s familiar – I grew up with a sister, I’m used to having a baby girl…it’s going to be so novel having a boy in the household!

Of course I’m super excited about having ‘one of each’. I think Taylor will absolutely love having a baby brother to play with (and terrorise!) and I’m looking forward to also raising a boy in this world.

24 weeks in…

I’m now 24 weeks in and this pregnancy is still flying by. I haven’t been feeling so great for the last three weeks with various infections and illnesses, but I’m feeling a little more like myself again this week. I also feel like I’ve expanded quite a bit and I’m definitely bigger than I was with my first pregnancy at this stage. I’m not convinced that’s because I’m having a boy (as my mums says!), but think it’s more to do with this being my second pregnancy and my body adapting quicker to the changes.

Baby boy is sitting very low still and his movements are getting more and more frequent. His head seems to be over to the right and sometimes it really hurts when he moves! Something I never had before.

We have a lot to get organised with our forthcoming house move before our due date, so I’m certainly not counting down the days like I was with my first pregnancy. But it’s all starting to feel much more real now and I’m so excited about meeting him!

Awwww congratulations! It’s very interesting you thought it was going similar and thought girl, as mine is so different and I assumed boy, and we were both wrong! I also have a sister so am happy having 2 girls and can see how they might interact in years to come. Hubby has a sister and so he assumed he’d have a boy and girl! Congratulations and enjoy all the shopping for super cute boy monsters, dinosaurs and dungarees xx

Congratulations! Boys are amazing and so different to having a girl. My girl was quite independent and not too fussed about being held, whilst my boy loved being in his sling. He’s now 4 and I’m sure he would still be in it if he could haha! All the best with the packing and moving too x
