Beauty and the Beast at Resorts World Birmingham

Beauty and the Beast

Last week we were invited along to the Cineworld IMAX Cinema at Resorts World Birmingham to watch Beauty and The Beast. Beauty and the Beast is one of my all-time favourite Disney films, so I was super excited about seeing this live-action adaption of the animated classic.

Going to the cinema has always been one of my favourite things to do. Unfortunately cinema trips have been few and far between since having Taylor, so this was the perfect excuse to get out of the house with a friend mid-week, whilst the hubby stayed at home with Taylor!

The Cineworld IMAX Cinema at Resorts World Birmingham

The Cineworld IMAX Cinema at Resorts World was built in 2015, making it one of the latest installs with powerful sound systems and a patented crystal-clear IMAX enabled screen. There are also viewings available in 2D and 3D, along with the massive 40ft tall IMAX curved screen.

Our showing was at 7.15 pm, so we arrived with plenty of time to take full advantage of the sweet treats on offer. The excuse to pig out is most definitely one of my favourite things about going to the cinema and we were certainly spoilt for choice with everything that’s on offer here! In the end we both opted for a mint chocolate chip ice cream from Baskin Robbins and a Pick ‘n’ Mix to go with our XL Coca Colas…

One of the things that struck me when we first sat down in our seats was how immersive the viewing experience is at Cineworld Resorts World. The cinema screen seems bigger than most (even though we weren’t in the IMAX screen), and both the picture and audio are super crisp and clear. The seats were also really comfy and spacious with plenty of leg room in the front for longer legs (or for people to squeeze past to get to their seats!)

Beauty and the Beast – My verdict

I loved this film! From the moment it opened I was hooked and wanted to break out into applause following every song! The music and characters took me back to my childhood and I loved how this contemporary remake has stayed true to the original story and songs. Having said that, it was magical to see this classic film refashioned with today’s special effects and cinematic capabilities – it really is a feast for the eyes and ears from start to finish. I may have even wept at the end along to ‘Tale As Old As Time’!

I’m not usually a massive Emma Watson fan, but I have to admit she is perfect as the bright and independent Belle. In fact, all of the characters are perfectly cast and there’s none of that disappointment you feel when a character is completely different to its original version, or not as you imagined ‘from reading the book’…

The best thing about this film is that it will be a hit with both kids seeing it for the first time and adults who will love the the nostalgic trip down memory lane – as I did.

It’s definitely one I will be watching again with Taylor in a few years’ time as I wait for her Disney obsession to kick in…(#nomorepeppapig)
