Trying to think of new ideas and ingredients to make a packed lunch more fun is a constant challenge of mine. Not least because Taylor’s lunch is usually thrown together in a hurry on the morning before we rush out to pre-school…As much as I try to be organised, I admit this is definitely not one of my strengths!
Luckily our daughter is a fan of sandwiches and she’s never been a fussy eater, but it can be too easy to slip into a habit of giving her the same lunch each day. Especially since she’s a huge fan of cheese and that’s always her one request! So a cheese sandwich, tomatoes, cucumber, and a packet of mini cheddars is her staple lunch most days!
Since she started at pre-school in September she’s been taking a packed lunch, so I’m trying to mix it up a little for her. She loves taking her lunch and will proudly carry it to school in her backpack each day after watching me make it in the morning (“I want lots of cheese mummy”…)
I was recently contacted by a company called Petit Fernand, which specialises in a cool range of personalised products for kids to take to school, nursery, summer camps etc. From customisable labels, to beakers, pencil cases and lunch boxes, they have a brilliant range of fun and practical products to brighten up the school day.
We were sent a personalised lunch box for Taylor and she’s in love!
The lunch boxes are really easy to order online – simply choose your designs, colour option, font and write your own custom message. We chose the blue lunch box with a cute Paris design.
Each personalised lunch box comes with a clever ice pack which you place in the freezer beforehand to keep your lunch cool all day long. We often take Taylor’s lunch out with us on day trips and this is so handy when we know it’s going to be sat in the car for a long period. It’s also microwave safe, meaning that I can put left overs from dinner in there, and I don’t have to transfer it to another container when it comes to heating it up the next day.
Another great feature is that it’s completely adjustable. It has a main container into which you can add two removable containers, and a second inner box which can also be included. Currently we’re only using the bottom section of the box, which is the perfect size for a toddler’s appetite, but it’s good to know we’ll be able to add in the other sections as she grows.
If I’m honest, I still have some work to do on being more creative with her lunches – but at least I know that she has a (very) cool lunch box!
