This weekend we enjoyed a family trip to our local Cineworld to watch Paddington 2 in Superscreen. We loved the first Paddington, so we were looking forward to seeing the return of everyone’s favourite bear on the film’s opening weekend.
Enjoying film as a family
At almost three years old, Taylor is now at an age where she will sit still for long enough to watch a film, and she absolutely loves the novelty of visiting the cinema!
I also recently learned that babies are welcome at morning and afternoon U, PG and 12A Cineworld film showings. They even have special Cinebabies screenings in selected cinemas for certain films – these are exclusive for parents and babies with dimmed lighting and lower sound, so parents can watch with babies in arms.
Perhaps I’m the only parent who didn’t realise this, but we never considered taking Taylor along when she was a baby – if only we’d known! So the fact that we could also take Harry with us to watch the film made it the perfect family outing.
We chose to go to an afternoon showing of Paddington 2, so we’d been talking about it with Taylor all morning. Of course we had to get popcorn and drinks on arrival (and perhaps a pick ‘n’ mix and a bag of Minstrels…), which was enough to get her pretty excited! We then headed into our Superscreen to get ready for the film to start.
Cineworld Superscreen experience
The Cineworld Superscreens are HUGE – from wall to wall and as high as the ceiling. They aim to offer a truly immersive cinema experience with state of the art projection and multidimensional sound powered by 27 amplifiers. There are ten Superscreens throughout the UK, including Solihull, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Glasgow, Cardiff and London.
Paddington 2 – Our verdict
If you’re after a feel-good family movie to watch in the run-up to Christmas, I can’t recommend Paddington 2 enough! Even the coldest of hearts will be thawed by the endearing charm of Paddington Bear, and you’ll struggle not to chuckle along as you vouch for Paddington and his pals. In my (not so expert) opinion, it has a brilliant storyline and the adults will love it just as much as the kids.
We really enjoyed watching it with Taylor, who lapped up every minute of it (alongside her packet of chocolate Minstrels)…And true to form, Harry slept through the whole thing!
All in all, we had a fantastic afternoon out and I’m looking forward to returning to watch some of the other blockbusters currently showing on the Superscreen – Thor: Ragnarok, Murder on the Orient Express and Geostorm to name a few. We may even have to get a babysitter so that we can enjoy a cinema trip as a couple, something we haven’t done in so long.
